10 STEP GUIDE TO BUILD A SKATEBOARD
Gather tools and parts
Materials:
Skateboard deck (blank or pre-designed)
Grip tape
Skateboard trucks (front and rear)
Skateboard wheels (4)
Skateboard bearings (8)
Hardware (8 bolts and nuts)
Tools:
Skate tool or a wrench
Screwdriver
Utility knife
Apply griptape
Peel the backing off the grip tape Smooth it out to avoid bubbles.
apply it carefully to the top of the skateboard deck.
Use a utility knife to trim off any excess grip tape.
Mark the Holes and Flip the deck over.
use a screwdriver to poke through the grip tape where the truck holes will go.
Carefully cut around the marks
create holes for the skateboard trucks.
Mount the trucks
Position the Trucks
Place the skateboard trucks onto the deck
aligning them with the holes you created.
Secure with Hardware
Insert the bolts through the holes from the top of the deck
secure them with nuts on the underside.
Tighten them with a skateboard tool or wrench.
Install the bearings
Push the bearings into the wheels.
use a skate tool or simply press them in by hand.
Make sure they are fully seated.
Attach the wheels
Slide the wheels onto the axles of the trucks.
Use spacers if required, and tighten the nuts onto the axles to secure the wheels.
Ensure there is a slight amount of play so the wheels can spin freely but not too loose.
Add and check truck hardware
Double-check that all the hardware is securely tightened.
This includes the truck bolts and wheel nuts.
Test trucks and wheels
Check bushing tightness
Make sure wheels and bearings turn
Check screws for possible mistakes
Adjust tension and bushing tightness
If the trucks feel too loose or tight, adjust the kingpin bolts to your preference.
Bushigns/ turn radius can be adjusted by tightening the kingpin
Inspect final build
Look over the entire skateboard to ensure everything is properly attached and aligned.
Take a short ride to test the skateboard's performance and make any final adjustments if needed.
Ride and test setup
Add stickers, paint, or other personal touches to customize your skateboard.
Periodically check the tightness of the hardware, the condition of the grip tape, and the wear on the wheels and bearings.
